Wisdom in Silence
As we all know, a lot is going on right now in our World. The effects of the events in the United States as they relate to the Black community are being seen world wide. I have long felt we needed to take a look at the impacts of systemic racism. I felt we needed to hear the Black community and what they were asking of us. On my personal social media, and certainly offline, I would speak to friends and family about these topics. I realized I had not been doing so in my business, and that needed to change. I wanted to be thoughtful with my words and how I approached a very important topic. That of police brutality against the Black community and how it is related to systemic racism. I spent time in reflection. I am reading different Black perspectives. I am learning about my role in perpetuating these systems as a White woman. So, I went silent to learn and to reflect on how I can best serve. I will still channel the Angels and my guide Helena, but today I need to speak out on these topics. I believe that we can come together as a society. However, holding hands and stating we are one is not enough. Systemic racism and its effects must be recognized and eliminated.
We are called to love, and now more than ever, we must show that love.
There are many ways we can live the love we are called to be. Ignoring harm done to the Black community cannot be one of them. Yes, it can be challenging and difficult to sit with our own biases, but we must. We must take a hard look at our systems and institutions and how they perpetuate injustice. We can learn about systemic racism and its effects on the Black community, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). We can work to dismantle those systems that perpetuate inequality. We need to research candidates and vote in our elections. We can also vote with our pocket book by supporting Black businesses. We must take our lead from the Black community and the many resources on what we can do that are already out there. Please remember to not expect your Black friend(s) to guide you. As the kids say, Google is free. I know this topic may make some of you uncomfortable. However, I believe we are all up to the task. If we allow contemplation and reflection to guide us, we can then act in love. When we do so, we can move mountains to ensure that we truly are a society for all, and not just the few.
Love is an action verb
How can you act in love to support the Black community? Love,
